Minimum Requirements To Qualify For Border Patrol Jobs:
Must be at least 18 years of age but less than 40 years old.
Must be a US Citizen and Resident of the U.S.
Must have a High School Diploma or GED
Border Patrol Employment Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship
- Applicants must apply and be considered prior to their 40th birthday
- Complete and pass a polygraph test
- Background check and residency in the United States for at least 3 years
- Complete and pass a drug test
- No Misdemeanor convictions or domestic violence convictions
- Firearm Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree or Law Enforcement experience
The Border Patrol Agent position is in accordance with the Public Law 100-238 under the law enforcement retirement provisions. The age restriction may not apply if you are currently or have previously served in a Federal civilian law enforcement position (non-military). A mandatory background check must be completed prior to your appointment. During this investigation, you will be asked to complete a security questionnaire (SF-86). This questionnaire will consist of questions regarding your education, residences, police records, financial situation, past and current employers, drug and alcohol use, etc. Additionally, you will be expected to provide your name and fingerprints so we can conduct a 10-year Federal background check.
